(“Craic” (/kræk/ KRAK) or “crack” is a term for news, gossip, fun, entertainment, and enjoyable conversation, particularly prominent in Ireland. It is often used with the definite article – the craic – as in the expression “What’s the craic?” (meaning “How are you?” or “What’s happening?”).

Every tour winds up in Doolin on the west coast of County Clare on the Wild Atlantic Way. Doolin is a typical little Irish fishing town with more pubs than hotels to be sure. Quite possibly the best Irish Coffee in the world is served up at Gus O’Connor’s Pub. Traditional music has always been the main stay in Doolin with every pub offering great Guinness, excellent seafood and top notch trad music.

Over the years we have become good friends with Blackie O’Connell, Eoghan Neff and Cyril O’Donoghue who host regular sessions every week in Doolin. We have listened to them for hours and sat in on a few tunes as well. Blackie is undisputedly one of the very top uilleann pipes players in the country. Eoghan is an amazing fiddler extraordinaire. And when they and bouzouki master Cyril get rolling, man the roof lifts and the walls expand and the craic is mighty indeed!

Most assuredly a highlight of the whole tour — these lads are the real thing. Check out some of their stuff – order a CD – better yet sign up to come with and see them in person – with your old buddies Sims, Maggie mad Jeffo sitting in. Either Oct 18, 2018 OR May 23 to June 1, June 1, 2019
